IN THE BEGINNING – A Story and Character Course

Description

With guidance, discussions and workshops, writers will follow a short program designed to discover their characters and create an original story concept.

Each of the four sessions is two hours long on Zoom and feature writing prompts and workshopping to help you develop your story.

There is a limit of four writers per course. Join a group with three other writers or assemble your own cohort with three likeminded friends. Whether you’ve written before or are simply interested in the process and want to find out if you have a story in you, this is the perfect opportunity to get writing!

Be it writing prose in long or short form, or drama for stage, screen, or voice, at the end of the course you will have characters and a concept from which to begin your story journey. With only four students per course, attention to your individual story is maximized.

Course Breakdown


Class One: discussion about story and character fundamentals	Writing Prompt: Create a story concept via character discovery.
Class Two: Workshopping individual story concepts	Discussion on the next writing exercise: the Protagonist Monologue, expressing POV.
Class Three: Workshopping the monologues.	Discussion on the next assignment: the Story Synopsis and logline.
Class Four: Workshopping the synopses.	Wrap-up.
